The Friends' end-of-year gathering was held at the National Library on 29 November 2007. Members of the committee read New Zealand Christmas Stories and Poems dating from 1862 to 2006.

At top right Lynne Jackett read an extract from A Southern Cross Fairytale by Kate McCosh Clark (1892) and Margaret Mahy's poem A New Zealand Christmas and below Janet Blake reads Slinky Malinki's Christmas by Lynley Dodd (2006).
The audience also enjoyed Emma MacDonald's hilarious rendition of A Kiwi Night Before Christmas and admired Tania Connelly's reading of her own Christmas Carol.
